Bob Dick, longtime Dalmau Counsulting colleague has announced his next series of 4 two hour webinars on the Foundations of Facilitation. Bob’s life’s work has been focused on how to facilitate groups effectively to help them have better meetings, make better decisions and solve problems. Those of you who would like to facilitate more effectively will really benefit from the wisdom that Bob has to share.
He has been re-thinking his webinar Program. In his own words he says, “In the course of doing so, I’ve been reexamining my ideas about topics like facilitation and decision making and change. This year, I wish to revisit the basics. Also, I intend to take into account some current relevant trends that seem likely to affect our future.”
The basics? What does it mean, to “facilitate”? The dictionary says “to make easy” — in this case, to make meetings, decision making and the like more enjoyable and effective. Basics do exist. They are simple and learnable, by anyone. They do make a difference.
Future trends? They include increasing volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity. The result? It is harder for an organisation to achieve its outcomes through rules and procedures. The more turbulent the environment, the greater the need for flexibility at the workface.
Suppose everyone had the skills to improve meetings, problem solving and decision making. How would that be? — facilitation by and for everyone. Better meetings. Better decisions.
Bob’s webinar programs are intended as a contribution to that purpose. “Foundations of facilitation” webinar program, will be on May 7, 14, 21, 28, 2024.
